About | Pastor Alfredo Cortez, Jr.

Alfredo I. Cortez, Jr. has dedicated his life to pastoral ministry since 1990, initially serving with the Baptist General Conference churches, which focus on Filipino-American communities in the United States. With an unwavering commitment to theological education and spiritual growth, Freddy earned a Master’s Degree in Theological Studies (2003) and a Doctor of Ministry (2007).

In 2004, Freddy founded Hope Bible Institute (HBI), driven by his vision to provide free, high-quality graduate-level courses to pastors, deacons, and church workers. Under his leadership, HBI established two satellite schools in the Philippines and one in Cameroon, Africa. Although a medical emergency in 2018 temporarily halted this work, Freddy’s impact through HBI remains profound.

Freddy’s extensive pastoral experience spans over three decades, encompassing crisis intervention, family and marital counseling, youth outreach, and gang intervention. His compassionate approach and dedication to service have touched countless lives.

Happily married to Corine, Freddy is blessed with three wonderful children: Alex, Emily, and Joshua. Recently, the family relocated to Virginia, responding to a divine prompting and facilitated by Corine’s active duty orders to Washington, DC.

Since 2020, Freddy has been leading National Capital Bible Church, where he continues to passionately share the Gospel and guide his congregation. Cortez Bible Ministry represents the next exciting phase of Freddy’s mission, as he remains devoted to following God’s call and overseeing the church in Springfield, Virginia.
